ARTIST DEVELOPMENT

Artist Development is the process of taking an artist from concept to fruition.  It’s taking what talents a particular artist has, itemizing and aligning those entities and guiding them to expand and evolve into the artist they want to become.
When considering whether or not to take on a potential client for an Artist development consultation, there are four major components that I consider.  Those components are potential, character, vision and most importantly, work ethic.  Is this person being realistic about his or her potential?  I need to understand their character to see where they fit so that we move in the right direction. I need to have an agreeable and doable vision for that client.  And lastly, I need to know that that person has the temperament and capability to do the work that is required.  Artist Development is WORK.  I set guidelines. But realistically, the client is doing the actual manual labor.  I need to know that they are motivated enough to do so or it’s a waste of both of our time.  Artist development is for those who are serious about making this a career.  The question is, how serious are you?
